Intro to Building Science and Insulation

In this class, you will learn the theory and practice of insulation and energy efficiency in homes while insulating the tiny house begun in the framing class earlier this summer. You will also learn the pros and cons of a variety of insulation types, as well as air and vapor barriers, and air quality control.
Building science is a rapidly developing field that addresses the health, comfort, and longevity of our houses. In this course you will be given an overview of issues to consider. Also you will dive into hands-on execution of insulation and air-sealing. The lectures will be filled with real life examples of building science failures, and we emphasize the principals that inform good execution.

This course is open to women-identifying and non-binary folx as well as trans men of any skill level without a prerequisite.
