DESCRIPTION:Join us for an immersive 2-day natural building experience led by Sasha of Earthen Shelter & Abudu. \nThere are many ways of working and building with earth to create everything from homes to ovens to garden walls to finishes on existing structures. DESCRIPTION:Join Earthen Shelter for a 2 day deep dive into learning about natural plasters and finishes.  We will cover plasters that are appropriate for an earthen building\, as well as plasters that can go over the drywall in an existing home. \n\n\n \nThis course will include both plasters made from found clay\, including how to find and source the clay\, as well as plasters from store bought materials.  We will apply plaster to an existing earthen structure\, a finish coat over a light straw clay wall\, a sheetrock wall in a standard house\, as well as on sample boards.

This workshop is perfect for beginners and experts alike! You will get the expert knowledge to build with cob and straw! Either for small-scale structures or large-scale projects like homes and buildings. \nThis workshop is a great experience to learn how to build with cob and straw\, and to get a broad learning overview of natural building techniques. You will get a solid foundation in natural building fundamentals. You will learn the advantages of high thermal mass cob versus high insulation straw materials. We will be constructing the walls on a new cob building and a straw-clay building\, mixing and applying lime plaster\, and studying Natural Building together each day. You will also get to see living examples on-site of a completed cob building and straw-clay building. These are excellent examples that you can learn a lot from! We will experiment with the a few of the following building styles to complete a project over our 2 day workshop period;  super adobe\, cob\, clay plastering\, lime plastering\, clay sculpting & finish details!\n\n\n \n\nThe workshop site was a raw piece of land that we’ve been developing for just over a year as we’ve been building our educational campus! We currently have 12 domes onsite in all various stages of building. You will see many different styles of buildings\, domes and designs onsite!​​ \nThe land sits right under 5000ft of elevation.  \nExact building location will be sent after RSVP.

DESCRIPTION:TINY HOMES\, BIG IDEAS is a film screening of The Box Truck Film and a community discussion hosted by Macy Miller\, a local tiny house dweller with 14 years of experience living sustainably in a self-built movable tiny home. \nThis community fundraiser supports a national advocacy effort to make movable tiny homes a legal\, accessible housing option nationwide. \n\n\n \nAbout the Film: Two builders convert a 17-foot moving truck into a 98-square foot tiny house and mobile reuse education center. Using almost nothing but reused\, repurposed\, and dumpster-dived materials\, their “triumph over junk” showcases the endless benefits of the reuse lifestyle\, which are implemented in very creative (and even comical) ways. \n  \n
