This workshop is perfect for beginners and experts alike! You will get the expert knowledge to build with cob and straw! Either for small-scale structures or large-scale projects like homes and buildings. \nThis workshop is a great experience to learn how to build with cob and straw\, and to get a broad learning overview of natural building techniques. You will get a solid foundation in natural building fundamentals. You will learn the advantages of high thermal mass cob versus high insulation straw materials. We will be constructing the walls on a new cob building and a straw-clay building\, mixing and applying lime plaster\, and studying Natural Building together each day. You will also get to see living examples on-site of a completed cob building and straw-clay building. These are excellent examples that you can learn a lot from! SUMMARY:Interior Earthen Plasters Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is designed to teach you how to plaster over walls in a standard house with drywall that typically has latex paint. We will teach how to prep the wall\, make and mix plaster from easily accessible materials\, how to apply it to the wall\, and what tools you will need. \nIn order to keep this workshop to one day for more accessibility\, it will also have a 2-3 hour zoom component prior to the hands on portion where we will go over all the ‘classroom’ aspects of the learning. This will include topics such as what is clay and how does it work in the mix\, how do I find my own clay\, where you can source materials from stores\, how to prep the substrate\, and much more. \n\n\n \nThe hands one day will be focused on application technique\, how to use our tools\, and how to apply\, smooth and compress the plaster for your desired finish.

One ticket provides entrance to each home with four extended weekends to BUILD YOUR OWN TOUR! \nVisit two show stopping homes\, including the largest one yet (8\,725 sq ft)\, at a featured site in Lake Oswego called Oswego Reserve\, with shuttle service to and from the site.
