Van dwellers and tenters welcome! It’s family-friendly too. \nJoin for a week-long community event with a wide variety of activities\, from an organized desert hike\, star gazing\, to bus transmission maintenance\, crafts\, and potlucks. \n\n\n \n\n\n“For the most part\, Skooliepalooza is and always will be an organic event of-and-by the community. This year will be no different except that Skooliepalooza is postponing all official organized events like potlucks\, dances\, seminars or socials at the winter gathering; per the State of Arizona and BLM recommendations.\n\n\n\n\nIt would be irresponsible at this time for close quarter events like potlucks or seminars where prolonged contact with those outside your own direct family or group may occur.\n\n\n\n\nYes\, Skooliepalooza® 2021 is on BLM land and many of you have traveled specifically to gather in the desert\, we get that and only you know what is or isn’t acceptable risk for you and your family.\n\n\n\nThat said\, if you are still planning on camping at Skooliepalooza this year we hope you will do it by being careful\, and respectful of others and the community; not just our Skooliepalooza community; but those you pass through like Ehrenberg\, Blythe and Quartzsite. We have seen posts and comments recently that imply that maskers\, or anti-maskers may not be welcome in their camp or on their bus. Stop it! This is not what community is about. If you feel that you cannot keep politically-charged viewpoints separate then you are asked not to camp. No one should be made to feel uncomfortable or unsafe attending or visiting a fellow camp\, period.\n\n\n\nShould you elect to host guests and visitors at your own camp please\, use common sense and respect the guidelines laid out. This includes wearing a mask\, practicing social distancing where possible\, washing your hands and sanitizing frequently. It is up to the community to act responsibly during the on-going pandemic and use best-guidelines for the safety of yourselves and others in the community.\n\n\n\nWe also ask everyone to remember to adhere to all local\, state and BLM regulations which include pack it in\, pack it out and leave no-trace. The future of Skooliepalooza events rests on the entire community being responsible stewards as they have shown themselves to be every year thus far.\n\n\nNow\, the good news! DESCRIPTION:Visitors to Otronicon Expo will see green when they check out the Tiny Green Home\, a hands-on experience to increase sustainability education and awareness in Central Florida. Built by Orlando Utilities Commission\, the City of Orlando\, and Orlando Science Center\, the 200-square-foot home will premiere to the public during Otronicon and be available for scheduled tours throughout the event. \n“This diminutive abode offers a hands-on experience through interactive displays that educate visitors on energy and water conservation measures\, sustainability rebates\, vehicle electrification\, renewables\, composting\, food gardens and other efficiency methods. It includes a functioning roof-top solar array and a rain barrel to collect and conserve water\, among other green features visitors can add to their own homes. \nPart of the American Cities Climate Challenge grant\, the $100\,000 project is funded equally by OUC and the City\, along with a $15\,000 grant from The Natural Resources Defense Council.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Tiny Green Home\, a partnership between OUC\, the City of Orlando and Orlando Science Center\, is an educational resource showcasing the benefits of:\n\nEnergy and water conservation\nRenewable energy\nSustainability rebates\nVehicle electrification\,\nComposting\nGrowing your own food\nSustainability programs from OUC\, the City\, and OSC\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nDon’t miss the opportunity to learn this tiny home’s big message about sustainability. DESCRIPTION:Join the 4th Annual Skoolie Swarm™ for a chance to come and relax as a community. This is not a show. Importantly\, you do not have to have a bus to attend. In 2020 about 100 skoolies\, vans\, box trucks\, tents\, and car campers attend. Not to mention the day-trippers.\n\n\n \n\n\n“Practice your off-grid skills. There are no electric hookups but there is a water spigot in the campground to get some water but please don’t everyone rely on filling up there. Generators are allowed but the louder ones will be asked to face them toward the tree line.\n\nThis venue has bathrooms with hot showers\, a large mess hall that includes a kitchen available for all to use and keep clean. There is 1 large fire ring for community fires overlooking the lake. Firewood will be provided for the community fire ring.\n\nJust like Swarm™2020 we will have epic potluck dinners\, community breakfasts\, kickball games\, a sock hop\, movie nights and more.\n\nYou can bring any kayak\, canoe\, paddleboard or low powered water vessel. Fishing is allowed.
