DESCRIPTION:This year’s Build Small Live Large Summit focuses on the “Missing Middle” of available and affordable housing\, which offers solutions to steeply rising rents\, displacement\, and the pollution that is changing our planet’s climate.\nIt will highlight what communities across North America are doing to create more livable cities full of smaller\, more diverse\, and affordable homes. Hear from national experts on legislation\, infill policy\, ADUs\, and accessible builds for two days of events to share policy approaches\, design solutions\, and practical tools for catalyzing small-footprint home development. \nThe first 75 people to Register will receive a complimentary copy of keynote speaker\, Richard Rothstein’s most recent book\, The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America. \nHISTORIC HOUSING TOUR: \nTake a guided tour to see firsthand how the government housing laws and policies discussed in Rothstein’s keynote address have played out across the City of Portland. The tour\, presented by the Fair Housing Council of Oregon\, will visit locations across Portland with historical experience of racial discrimination\, displacement\, and segregation. space is limited to 45 people maximum on the bus.
