Thomasborg Sustainable Community launches their first free cob workshop in collaboration withReLeaf Outings! They offer an opportunity to learn cob, connect with nature, and meet other like-minded people.

This workshop is a step by step guide to building with cob. You will learn how to take your raw piece of land and completely construct a cob building correctly and efficiently. Participants will construct three small cob buildings.

Learn:

• Soil selection and determining ratios of cob ingredients
• The many ways to mix cob
• Building site selection and using passive solar
• Building planning and preparations
• Foundations, footings, and stem walls
• Doors, windows, and roof structure
• How to apply cob correctly and efficiently
• Shaping walls, doors, and windows
• Lots of hands-on experiences and visuals

Lodging and food:

• On-site camping
• Food: potluck style. Fire pits and cob grill available. You are welcome to bring camping cookstoves as well.

Cost:

This workshop will be free; though donations encouraged.

COVID PRECAUTIONS:

• There’s plenty of room for social distancing at the campsite and during the event
• Masks are welcome and will be out in the fresh air
• Hand washing station available
