New Jackery Solar Generator 3000 Pro

In our latest Tiny Stuff product review, we tried out the brand-new Jackery Solar Generator 3000 Pro. It’s a bundle that includes the Explorer 3000 Pro power station and two 200-Watt SolarSaga solar panels. Billed as the “Ultimate Power Master” due to its impressive 3,024-watt-hour power capacity, versatility, and portability.

But we put it to the test at our tiny homestead, shuttle bus build, and while camping at the ski resort.

So is the Jackery Solar Generator 3000 Pro worth the buzz?

If you’re at all familiar with the rapidly growing world of power stations, then you definitely know Jackery. They’re hustling to keep up with the innovative competition. So it’s no surprise that the SG 3000 Pro is their most robust yet. It has several features that enable it to go toe-to-toe with competitors. However, Jackery has yet to move on from lithium-ion battery chemistry.

Many other new power stations use lithium-ion phosphate. Popularly known as LiFePO4, these batteries offer somewhere between two to five times more lifespan than a comparable lithium-ion battery (LIB). That’s significant. With that said, Jackery’s Explorer 3000 Pro power station has an incredible 2,000 lifecycles up to 70%—on the extreme high-end for LIB. A comparable EcoFlow power station using LiFePO4 batteries gets 6,500 lifecycles up to 50%. But the trade-off comes at a significantly more expensive price tag.

Jackery Explorer 3000 Pro Top Features

Impressively, the Explorer 3000 Pro is only 64 pounds, which is 30% lighter than similar power stations. So this helps keep it truly portable with sturdy carrying handles or by rolling. To roll, extend its ergonomic suitcase-like handle. Then just tilt it back on its double rubber wheels for smooth transport.

Essential Specs:

  • Power capacity: 3024 Watt-hour (70Ah)
  • Power output: 3,000 Watts
  • Peak Surge Protection: 6,000 Watts
  • Supports 1800 Watts for AC charging
  • Supports 1400 Watts for solar charging

The Explorer 3000 Pro can power a huge range of devices and appliances. It has 10 output ports in total, including a 25-amp AC outlet that could handle low-power consumption campers or tiny homes. Importantly, all the AC outputs use a pure sine wave inverter which protects sensitive devices like computers.

Beyond the beefy 3,000 Watt power output capacity, the Explorer 3000 Pro can handle 6,000 watts of peak surge protection. This is exactly what’s needed to run things like high-power power tools. With something like a table saw, the power peaks significantly right when it turns on and then levels out to a much lower output.

All Output Ports:

  • 1 AC port: 25-A, 3,000W output
  • 4 AC ports: 20-A, 2400W output
  • 2 USB-C quick charge ports: 18W Max
  • 2 USB-A ports: 100W Max
  • 1 Car Port: 12V/10A

Further, the Explorer 3000 Pro includes two input ports for three different kinds of charging that it supports—wall, car, and solar. The AC port allows for a huge 1800-watt wall charging capability. With that, it can fully recharge in just 2.5 hours. Similar competitor models take 2.5 hours to get to just 80% charge. The AC input port supports pass-through charging. This means the Explorer 3000 can recharge at the same time that you’re powering other things. Additionally, it does support dual charging with solar and wall charging.

With solar charging, the Explorer 3000 Pro supports up to 1,400 watts, so it can fully recharge in just 3-4 hours. However, to achieve this, you need six of the 200-watt SolarSaga panels. It takes 9-10 hours with the 2, 200-Watt SolarSaga panels included in the Jackery Solar Generator 3000 Pro bundle.

Jackery went big with safety upgrades from past power station models. For example, the battery management system (BMS) that protects the Explorer 3000 Pro from overcharging or over-discharging does an outstanding 80 million checks per second. In addition, it has a 30% improved heat dissipation efficiency. This is thanks to the nine temperature sensors and variable fan speeds to help keep it cool.  Lastly, you can rest easier in your van conversion because the Explorer 3000 Pro is fire-retardant (UL 94V-0 Standard).

These days every new power station features app control. The Explorer 3000 Pro does as well. With the app, you can monitor all the inputs and output wattage as long as you’re within Bluetooth range. You can also put it in energy savings mode if you don’t need all 3,000 watts. By conserving some energy, you extend the power station’s lifespan.

Also, in the app, you can easily adjust the charging modes. Choose fast charge mode when you need it to recharge as quickly as possible. Alternatively, when you want less noise, choose quiet charge mode, taking the 55 decibels to just 33.

SolarSaga Folding 200-Watt Solar Panels

Jackery made significant improvements in their latest generation of SolarSaga panels. For example, the 200-Watt solar panels have an industry-leading 25% solar conversion efficiency. In the past, other foldable panels got 7-15% rating. The better the efficiency, the more power makes its way into the Explorer 3000 Pro.

Folding solar panels offers placement convenience for optimal sun collection. Move them around to achieve the best angle. Just keep in mind unfolding the SolarSaga 200-Watt panels can be awkward due to their length. With that said, the struggle is worth it due to the efficiency and because they’re waterproof. Most foldable panels are just water-resistant, which is more limiting for unexpected rain showers.

With their large power output, they’re also quite heavy. A 200-Watt SolarSaga solar panel weighs about 17.5 pounds. But at least it comes in a durable carrying bag with pockets to stow the necessary cables.
